I'm 17 Months Old!!!

Eight Months Together

Yesterday marked our 8th month together. I can't believe it is August, let alone 8 months since Sofia came home.

She is just starting to get her molars. One came through on Saturday.

She is more than half my height. She is at least 32 inches tall and I am 62ish inches tall. She is at least 24 pounds,(not quite half my weight) at times she seems much heavier.

Her hair is getting longer, as you can see in the photos above. It's hard to keep it up in a barrette. Sometimes it falls down by itself, and sometimes there is some assistance from the owner of the hair.

Our cupboards are not just opening and closing now, they are being emptied, and refilled. And not always in the right place.

Sofia is learning so much each day. She figures new things out by trying it out, or by watching us, and she then repeats it on her own. She tries to help unload oma's dishwasher and then closes the door for us.

We are all enjoying her very much.

Sofia's Baptism

On Sunday, we had a very quickly planned baptism for Sofia at St. Mary Church in Woodstock, Il. where I grew up. Even though there were just days to plan for it, everyone, except two cousins were able to attend this special day. Deacon Lou, who has a granddaughter adopted from Russia, performed the baptismal ceremony. Sofia has five godmothers and one godfather. What a blessed little girl!! After the ceremony, we went to our favorite German restaurant and ate, ate, ate as all good Germans would do.

Sofia did not cry when he blessed her with holy water, but she did exercise her lungs for a little while after the blessing with oil.
